Google Partners with Fujitsu’s NIFTY Corp.
Japan’s Largest ISP Provides Direct Access to Google Search Engine
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – April 16, 2001 – Google Inc., developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced a partnership with NIFTY Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited. Millions of users of both the @nifty Internet access service and the popular @nifty website now have immediate access to Google’s comprehensive and easy-to-use search engine.
@nifty, the largest Internet access provider in Japan, offers 4.6 million subscribers and general Internet users a number of web-based services including community and e-commerce sites, and more than 200,000 homepage services. @nifty also offers a search portal, branded @search. Available now at www.nifty.com/search, @search now provides direct access to the Google search engine. This fast and easy-to-use service enables users to quickly search and browse the Internet’s largest search engine.

The Google search engine is available in Japanese through both the company’s Japanese home page (www.google.com), and through a number of partners including Yahoo! JAPAN, Fujitsu/NIFTY, NEC BIGLOBE, and About.com-Japan. Google recently introduced a wireless version of Google for NTT DoCoMo’s Internet-ready i-mode phones. This innovative service is available to users of any i-mode phone at www.google.com/imode.
