Handspring Integrates Google’s Award-Winning Search Engine with Blazer Web Browser
Users Now Have Direct Access to More Than 1.3 Billion Web Pages Anytime, Anywhere
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – May 15, 2001 – Google Inc. today announced that Handspring, Inc. (Nasdaq: HAND) has integrated Google’s intelligent search engine with the new version of Blazer, its award-winning web browser for Palm OS handhelds. Google is the world’s largest search engine, and enables Blazer users to quickly search and browse a full range of web content, including more than 1.3 billion web pages in Google’s index.
Available now for any Palm OS handheld based on version 3.1 or higher, Blazer’s advanced technology supports all major content types, optimizing HTML, WAP, and cHTML web pages for viewing on a handheld display. Google’s easy-to-use interface and highly relevant ranking technology returns the most useful websites first. Google’s search results also include short summaries of each web page, further speeding up the process of finding information while on the go. Blazer includes support for color graphics, personalization, bookmarks, and strong security, therefore providing users with a complete Internet experience.
