Google Corporate Search Products Gain Market Momentum

Pfizer, Xerox, Hitachi Data Systems, Nextel Communications, Procter & Gamble, Discovery Communications and the U.S. Army Adopt Google Search Appliance – Sales Increase 200 Percent

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Aug. 12, 2003 – Google announced today that a growing number of leading pharmaceutical, technology, consumer products and government institutions have adopted the Google Search Appliance (GSA) to enable customers and employees to find the products and information they need easily and efficiently.

New GSA customers announced today include Pfizer, Xerox, Hitachi Data Systems, Nextel Communications, Procter & Gamble, Discovery Communications, the U.S. Army, the San Diego Union-Tribune and the City of San Diego. Launched in early 2002, the GSA is currently deployed by hundreds of institutions in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, technology, broadcasting, retail, government and education. This growing list of GSA customers has contributed to a 200 percent increase in sales over the past year – demonstrating the ongoing market demand for the GSA.

  • Nextel Communications, a leading provider of fully integrated wireless communications services, uses the GSA to search its support help center – providing employees with immediate access to a wide range of technical and support information to help them respond rapidly to customer inquiries.
  • The City of San Diego deploys the GSA on its public website, enabling residents and visitors to easily locate information and services such as legislative documents, live meeting webcasts, and online systems for reporting and tracking street repairs and other civic business.
