Google Announces Global Code Jam 2006 Finalists

The field is set for Google’s Global Code Jam finals. Over 20,000 competitors from over a hundred countries registered for our annual coding competition which presents participants with a series of challenging problems that they must use their programming skills and creativity to solve. This year’s finalists represent 23 different countries from every corner of the globe. They will be flown to Google’s New York engineering offices to battle it out for their share of $155,000 in prize money on October 27th.

This year marks the first year the finals will be held in New York City. "Google New York is very excited to be hosting Google Code Jam 2006," said Craig Nevill-Manning, Engineering Director, Google New York. "It’s an incredible opportunity to introduce the best of the programming world to our New York Engineering office in downtown Manhattan and demonstrate the incredible diversity of experiences that Google offers engineers all over the world.
