Yahoo! Everywhere and Google Join Forces to Offer Award-Winning Search Technology to Wireless Internet Users

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – April 10, 2001 – Google Inc., developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced that Yahoo! Inc. has integrated Google’s fast and highly relevant wireless search technology into its wireless offerings. In addition to retrieving personalized content and services, on-the-go Yahoo! users can now take advantage of the Google search engine to browse and access Internet web pages from any web-enabled mobile phone.

Available via web-enabled phones across the United States, Yahoo! features Google’s WAP search service, which enables users to search and browse more than 2.2 million WML and HDML pages contained in Google’s WAP search engine index. Ideal for mobile users, the service enables users to manage their wireless and mobile communication needs from one convenient location. Additionally, Google provides Yahoo! users the power to view millions of HTML web pages. Google’s proprietary search technology automatically converts HTML web pages into a format optimized for WAP phones.
